the stone house

While a contemporary house plan can present modern architecture, this contemporary home sports a traditional exterior with craftsman touches and a modern open floor plan interior. The interiors feature clean, straight lines, and a monochromatic colour scheme with minimal ornamentation. This home was renovated with a dedication toward creating timelessness with a touch of practicality. We struck a balance between creativity, practicality and beauty.

The kitchen was a careful collaboration between architect, joinery specialist and the client. Its light stone surfaces and neutral floors give it a sense of calm stillness. It boasts state of the art appliances with intelligent technology , to simplify modern, fast paced living.

The spaces flow into each other with ease and harmony. Within the double volume foyer space, a skylight brings a shaft of sunshine over a beautiful staircase with a wrought iron balustrade and a carefully crafted timber handrail. The handrail was custom shaped by a master craftsman who followed the curved line of the balustrade at the lower level. It is truly a masterpiece. The bathrooms provide that feeling of being in a luxury spa, with its cool floating vanities and L.E.D. glow behind the mirrors.

The existing façade was given a facelift with the installation of austere looking Ionic style columns at the entrance gateway and front porch. The large glass windows allows for natural light to flood the house bringing in the outdoor garden, and providing spectacular mountain views. The rough concrete aggregate surface outside, provides texture and uniformity to the neutral tones inside. This house has evolved into a chic and fresh luxurious retreat.
